Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice
Lando Norris has outscored Oscar Piastri at all of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the quickest lap in the closing stages of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the title advantage from his teammate by one point after taking the win in Mexico City two weeks ago, outpaced the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver throughout the hour before sprint qualifying due at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the championship fight, lying 36 points Norris, was classified in P17 as his Red Bull team opted for a different programme.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to crash, though minor, when he rotated at the fourth corner early in the session.
Tsunoda slid over the exit kerbs before rotating through the gravel trap, and was fortunate to avoid just a minor contact of the barrier.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the conclusion of the session, turning around through the high-speed Mergulho turn before the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
The seven-time champion finished practice in 19th, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the remaining drivers, with the German's car third fastest, 0.619secs behind Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
